Summer Nostalgia

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2023
Size: 15.7 W x 19.7 H x 0.6 D

This painting takes me back to childhood memories: sunny Sundays, the beach, and summer. It expresses a fusion of retro and contemporary styles, with a touch of irreverence.

The work carries an aura of mystery, reinforced by the partially hidden eyes behind the sunglasses, yet it simultaneously emanates a sense of control and self-confidence. The use of warm colors and the contrast between elements, like the large round sunglasses and the stylized hairstyle with two high buns, suggest a young, bold, and determined personality, with a strong sense of self-assurance and modernity. Her direct and frontal posture hints at a figure that does not seek to hide but rather to be observed, analyzed, and understood on her own terms.

The painting resembles contemporary urban realism, with a clear photographic influence, highlighted by the texture of the skin and the refinement of the lighting. Additionally, there is an evident reference to pop culture, especially in the aesthetic of an influential figure.

The chosen colors create a light and sunny atmosphere, conveying a vibrant and youthful energy. This piece would certainly stand out in contemporary settings due to its focus on fashion and style, capturing the essence of a modern, self-sufficient persona, whose direct gaze provokes an immediate connection with the viewer.

The Artist

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2023
Size: 19.7 W x 31.5 H x 0.6 D

Immersed in the creative process, unconcerned with the mess or external judgments, the “Artist” represents artistic freedom in a constant state of creation—raw and authentic. Unbothered by social norms or expectations, she transforms all her disappointments into art, comfortable in her disorder, expressing total confidence in a relaxed and secure pose.

A contemporary realist painting with touches of pop art incorporates a sense of modern and urban culture, evident in her clothing, hat, and cigarette. The expressive use of vibrant colors, like the purple and blue of her denim apron, stands out in contrast to the neutral background, symbolizing a direct connection with art.

Angelina

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2024
Size: 23.6 W x 35.4 H x 0.6 D

Angelina is a strong, introspective, and enigmatic character, balancing a mix of melancholy, joy, and self-confidence, as evidenced by her serious and direct expression. Her tattoos reinforce her free and bold expressiveness, each one carrying a deep and meaningful story. Details such as cats, vintage designs, a treble clef, a paint palette, a cactus, and a bee, as well as the combination of accessories, hairstyle, artistic makeup, and her vibrant and striking dress, reflect her authenticity and individuality.

By her side, a melancholic-looking pug highlights the balance between strength and sensitivity, showcasing the affectionate and loyal aspect of her personality. The setting is an old, nostalgic storeroom, filled with family, historical, and cultural memories. The "folia de reis" mask, a symbol of a Brazilian festivity, carries a festive theme, suggesting a multifaceted personality and the idea of fearless joy.

The atmosphere of the work evokes a complex narrative within contemporary realism, with references to pop art and modern aesthetics. The contrast between the dark background and the vibrant tones is striking: the saturated colors intensify Angelina’s personality, while the background, with slightly undefined objects, suggests a space loaded with symbolism.

If this street were mine

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2024
Size: 31.5 W x 47.2 H x 0.6 D

This character is inspired by the Brazilian folk song "Se essa rua fosse minha". With her long wavy hair and upright, confident posture, she seems to inhabit a space between reality and the dreamlike, emanating an aura of serenity and mystery. Her expression is calm, but her penetrating gaze reflects a deep awareness of herself. Her dark skin contrasts beautifully with the light background and her light blue skirt, creating a sense of visual harmony. The white top suggests simplicity, while the bold necklace she wears adds a touch of sophistication and strength.

She reveals a personality that blends simplicity, romance, strength, and lightness—being intuitive and captivating, connected to nature, attracting confidence and protection. Two cats surround her, represented in geometric imaginary lines that form a symmetrical triangle, linked to her skirt and height. The colors of the cats, one white and the other black, reinforce duality, symbolizing light and shadow, the known and the unknown. These elements, along with the setting of a quiet street and stone sidewalk, suggest that she carries within her both brightness and darkness, walking with balance between them.

The work conveys a sense of quiet power and an intimate connection with the surrounding environment, referencing the lyrics of the song "Se Essa Rua Fosse Minha," one of the most well-known folk songs in Brazil, often sung in children's circles and folkloric celebrations. The lyrics evoke the simplicity and purity of loving feelings, using metaphors and images that allude to innocence and romance. The song has also been interpreted by various artists in different contexts, reinforcing its ability to adapt and be reinterpreted, from more childlike versions to others that are more melancholic and reflective.

The painting follows a contemporary realistic style, with a subtle touch of surrealism, present in the serene and mystical atmosphere of the scene. The soft colors and balanced composition convey a sense of tranquility and introspection, typical of a contemporary approach that blends the real with the imaginary, creating a rich and emotional visual narrative.

Eruption

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2024
Size: 23.6 W x 35.4 H x 0.6 D

I like to compare emotions to natural phenomena. An intense and multifaceted personality, sometimes explosive and warm, other times calm, introspective, and solitary, easily resembles a dormant and unpredictable volcano, subject to various types of eruptions — from the most beautiful, desired, and spectacular to the most dangerous and destructive.

This is how I represent this character: a beautiful woman, but also a volcano in eruption. Her flaming red hair looks like an explosion, forming a cloud of smoke above. Her expression, serene, focused, or in ecstasy, with a fixed gaze and confident posture, demonstrates control over this intense energy, conveying a combination of power, beauty, and seduction, imbued with an aura of danger and natural majesty. Her dress merges with fire and lava, evoking elements of indomitable strength, destruction, and transformation.

This work is a powerful representation, filled with energy, beauty, and emotional depth. Both realistic and symbolic, mixed with elements of surrealism and fantasy, it can be associated with the figure of a fire goddess or the personification of elemental forces. It creates a fusion between the real and the imaginary. The dark colors, such as black and gray, contrasted by the vibrant tones of orange and red, create a dramatic effect. The textures, with thick brushstrokes and mixed techniques, add a sense of movement to the piece.

Involve me

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2024
Size: 27.5 W x 35.4 H x 0.6 D

Submerged and enveloped by the tentacles of an octopus, recognized for its intelligence, mystery, and adaptability, this work symbolizes an intimate and profound connection, sustained by admiration, desire, and a confident and reciprocal surrender of body and soul. I have always seen the octopus as a fascinating figure, almost like a being from another planet, often associated with brilliance and the extraordinary. Here, it transcends its usual role and becomes a metaphor for protection and care, as if its tentacles were a silent embrace that welcomes and nurtures. In this work, I seek to express more than just trust and surrender. My goal is to highlight intelligence and uniqueness as values that transcend the surface. For me, the octopus, with its symbolism of genius, represents the fascination with what is authentic and uncommon, challenging norms and celebrating the creative and innovative mind. It transforms into an emblem of what truly captivates me — not what is obvious or visible, but what is deep, transformative, and enigmatic. The predominance of blue in the shades of the piece intensifies the sensation of freshness, serenity, and emotional depth. Realistic in its essence but with surreal influences, the work is an invitation I extend to those who observe it to reflect on our own bonds: what does it mean to trust, to surrender, and to let oneself be transformed by what surrounds us, even when what encircles us is unknown or out of the ordinary?

Controlling Instincts

Painting, Oil on Canvas
Year of Creation: 2024
Size: 23.6 W x 39.3 H x 0.6 D

I am strength and delicacy in balance, like an extension of nature that pulses in every instinct and shapes itself in every choice. The connection with the natural world is one of the main inspirations for this work. The jaguar’s face is not just a symbol of instinct, but also of connection with nature, as if we were part of it. I wanted to highlight the love and admiration I feel for this vital force, showing that women, with all their complexity, are also an extension of nature: wild, beautiful, instinctive, and essential. This work is a reflection on the internal struggle and the necessary balance between our deepest instincts and what we choose to project to the world. It celebrates feminine strength, duality, and our unbreakable connection with nature.
